Hadeel
Refugees

“ My name is Hadeel Kaddora.

I'm originally Palestinian, but I was born in Syria.
I was dreaming of becoming an interior designer, but I didn't have the chance to make my dream come true. That’s why I studied Translation at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Aleppo university - open learning system. I spend most of my time either at the university attending lectures or having English conversation courses at ACCAD Institute for languages.
Before the war, Aleppo was one of the most beautiful and safest cities in Syria. But once the war started I sometimes had to go to university under the shelling and random shooting going on around us. I was determined to continue my study. I spent 2 years studying translation from English-to- Arabic and vice versa.
After a very difficult trip by boat from Turkey I arrived in the Netherlands. I am staying in Heumensoord with my mother, aunt and cousin. I use to go to the lectures at the Radboud University with my friend and it was a great opportunity to keep up with my English.
I was happy that I could easily make friends with the Dutch people and students. I would be glad to be in contact with students who have the same field of study so we could exchange knowledge. In the future, I wish I can have the chance to pursue my dream of becoming a successful interior designer. ”
